Venomverse – New Event Will Spread The Symbiote To Many Fan Favorite Characters

It's a good time for Venom fans. Coming off the Sony announcement of Tom Hardy being cast as the lead in a Venom film… I hope he does the Bane voice… Marvel has just announced that Eddie Brock is returning to the Black & White symbiote this summer in a new epic event called Venomverse. The new series is being written by Cullen Bunn and edited by Devin Lewis who says that if Spider-Verse was like Saving Private Ryan then Venomverse is Die Hard. So who is Hans Gruber?

With the conclusion of Venom: Space Knight, the move was to bring the character back down to Earth and re-establish him as a Spider-Man villain. The following image is by Clayton Crain and is actually 5 connecting covers from the series and shows Venomized versions of Marvel characters both new and old.

With so many people interacting with the alien symboite, writer Bunn talked about how the cast of the story was chosen. "Part of picking this cast was definitely thinking about who readers would be most excited to see, but another part of it–something that I've always found important–is how the Venom symbiote interacts with other hosts. What's really exciting is that we get to see this with characters you'd never expect, like Black Panther, Mary Jane, and Old Man Logan."venomverse-oml-design venomverse-gwenpool-design

Going up against the Venoms will be the Poisons, completely new characters designed by Ed McGuinness. They are referred to as, "nature's answer to the symboites". The series will combine horror and sci-fi elements to tell a dark tale… but there will be some lighter moments as the series includes Deadpool and Pork Grind, the Venom from the Spider-Ham universe as well as Rocket Raccoon and Ghost Rider. Lewis says, "Cullen has done an incredible job of lacing every script with fun, bombastic energy. Deadpool is one of our main venomized protagonists. He's got so much heart and he's also a source of unpredictability, insanity, and goofiness." venomverse-black-panther-design venomverse_poison-hulk

Along with the complete story in Venomverse there will be Edge of Venomverse showing more characters being venomized and including the talents of creators like Si Spurrier, Tigh Walker, Clay McLeod Chapman, James Stokoe, and Ryan Key. There'll also be an anthology comic called Venomverse: War Stories, including a venomized Punisher issue written and drawn by Declan Shalvey.

Bunn says, "Eddie's not a hero, but he is the Venom that's most needed at this moment. This story will show why he's the best Venom that there is."

Edge of Venomverse #1 will be in stores June 28th while Venomverse #1 will be released the first week of September.
