It's the day before Turkey Day, which means your favorite comic book news websites like Bleeding Cool are doing our best to bring you the latest comic book news and gossip before you hop in the station wagon and head over the river and through the woods to Grandma's house for dinner. And by "doing our best" of course we mean that we're reading Twitter and seeing what tweets can be spun off into an article with a sensational headline.
Thankfully, X-meister Jonathan Hickman is always good for one of those, and today is no different, as Hickman has revealed that, despite enormous fan response to his relaunching of the X-Men franchise, he may have already tired of helming it, as Hickman admits he is trying his best to get fired.
If you're unhappy with me writing X-men, I want you listen closely: I'm doing everything I can, every single day, to get fired. They just won't do it.

Shocking! And Marvel X-Editor Jordan White confirms that Hickman is telling the truth.
I wish he were lying. https://t.co/20lg6caVQH

If Hickman were to get fired from X-Men, it would surely upset a lot of fandom that has been fervently following the X-books since Hickman's HoXPoX relaunch. But one person who might not mind? Superstar artist Rob Liefeld. A clip from a video Liefeld posted on Instagram back in September, when Hickman's HoXPoX was in full swing, has been making the rounds on Twitter amongst fans of Hickman's run.
The clip excerpts a short segment of the overall video, which is a discussion of Liefeld's favorite comics of all time, from around 2:45 into the video, in which Liefeld says:
Oh, and by the way, man, if you're reading today's X-Men comics and you're, like, even a little exited by them? Like, these are way better. Byrne. Claremont. Austin. Top of all time. Okay. Way better. There's action. Things happen. There's consequences. People aren't talking about other people, blah blah blah blah blah.
This isn't the first time Liefeld has earned himself Twitter ire for social media message less than positive about Hickman's X-Men, with the artist engaging in a Twitter flame war with "millennials" earlier this month after joking that X-Men will be relaunched again next year.

In any case, it doesn't look like Hickman has managed to succeed in getting fired from X-Men yet, but maybe all he needs to do is take things a little more X-rated to make Marvel uncomfortable?

Though if they aren't rattled by all the symbolism involving Wolverine's two dicks (one for f**king and one for making love) exploding all over the X-books these days thanks to Hickman's influence, nothing is likely to make Marvel pull the trigger.
Hickman's latest X-magnum-opus, New Mutants #2, is in stores today. Be sure to read it before Hickman manages to get himself purposely fired.
