Babylon 5's Joe Michael Straczynski to Write Resistance Spinoff, "Moths", From AWA Comics

AWA or Artists, Writers & Artisans Inc is a new comic book publisher from former Marvel publisher Bill Jemas and former EIC Axel Alonso that Bleeding Cool has been reporting on since long before anyone would officially admit that it existed. You can catch up on all our AWA coverage with this handy tag.

It will be launching a slate of new books and titles, with plenty of its A-List creators in attendance, at New York Comic Con – and we may have a sneak peek at one or two more of them.

And Joe Michael Straczynski, a member of the AWA Creative Committee, and author of the new series The Resistance, drawn by Mike Deodato Jr (new, fuller preview below). And he is also writing a spin-off series from The Resistance, called Moths. No artist yet, but this cover is by Kaare Andrews, who also has a couple of AWA titles on the go.

Bill Jemas is CEO and publisher of Artists Writers & Artisans, Axel Alonso is editor-in-chief and the publisher is funded by James Murdoch of Lupa Systems, Jonathan Miller of TPG Capital, Alexander Taussag of Lightspeed Venture Partners. Based in New York City, AWA is looking to license its comics series and characters for movies, games, TV series, and other media ventures, offering authors a hybrid business model. The company offers 20% of the revenue from media licensing deals to creators and it has a Creative Council made up of Garth Ennis, Reginald Hudlin, J Michael Straczynski, Gregg Hurwitz, Margaret Stohl and Frank Cho.
