How Will They Blame Cyclops for This One? Next Week's Tony Stark: Iron Man #8

As soon as we heard about Tony Stark's eScape devices, personal tech designed to allow consumers to escape into a virtual reality world, we knew it was going to end badly. Stark's ideas almost always do, after all. Yet somehow he always manages to escape the blame.

For example, you may remember what happened during Avengers vs. X-Men. After the Avengers, led by the fascist Captain America (confirmed to be an actual Nazi just a few years later), failed to convince the X-Men to hand over innocent teenager Hope Summers so she could be imprisoned on the moon for future crimes she might commit while under the influence of a bird-themed cosmic death force, Stark designed a device which split the Phoenix Force into five separate parts, forcing them into unwilling X-Men hosts such as Scott Summers. Of course, Cyclops, hero that he is, did his best to use that power to make the world into a utopia, but the jealous stark and his fellow Avengers worked to undo that too, and Summers was left taking all the blame for something that was clearly all Stark's fault in the first place.

And don't even get us started on Civil War.

But it seems Marvel history is doomed to repeat itself, because once again Stark has been allowed to unleash his terrible idea on the unsuspecting populace of the Marvel Universe, and predictably, things have gone horribly, horribly wrong…

How Will They Blame Cyclops for This One? Next Week's Tony Stark: Iron Man #8

Will Stark actually take the blame this time? Almost certainly not. Oh, how convenient, Cyclops has just come back from the dead, hasn't he? Clearly, this is all his fault.

Tony Stark: Iron Man #8 hits stores next Wednesday.

• It whispers through many mouths. It destroys with many hands. Its only weapon is hate.
• You're not really wearing a jetpack, user. It's a game.
• You're not really shooting someone and stealing their car, user. It's just a game.
