Marvel Liquidates Matthew Rosenberg Digital Comic Stock on ComiXology

Comics, Stan Lee famously once said, will break your heart, kid. That's a lesson one young comic book writer, Matthew Rosenberg, is learning the hard way. Formerly an indie darling, beloved for his work on books such as 12 Reasons to Die and We Can Never Go Home, Rosenberg quickly rose to stardom at Marvel Comics, eschewing his punk rock roots for the glamorous lifestyle of an A-List comic book creator. But the higher one flies, the further there is to fall.

It's unclear what Rosenberg did to earn his way into the doghouse at Marvel, but clearly, his stock is not valued as highly as it was just one month ago, when Rosenberg kicked off a run on Astonishing X-Men with superstar artist Greg Land while simultaneously writing a New Mutants series and a Multiple Man series. With an Uncanny X-Men reboot looming in November, Rosenberg's name had to at least be in the conversation for the creative team.

But suddenly, everything changed. This weekend, with no warning, Marvel deeply discounted every Marvel comic written by Rosenberg on digital comics platform ComiXology at the X-treme rate 67% off. Marvel is clearly doing its best to liquidate its entire digital stock of Matthew Rosenberg comics. Everything must go! From Rocket Raccoon to Punisher, from Secret Warriors to Phoenix: Resurrection, and from Tales of Suspense to Kingpin to New Mutants: Dead Souls. One could conceivably pick up an entire library of Matthew Rosenberg Marvel comics for mere pocket change.

Of course, seeing how Marvel has lost faith in the hotshot writer, it's difficult to imagine many people would be interested anymore, even at such bargain basement prices. It looks like Rosenberg won't be making the Bleeding Cool power list this year. The worst part is, Rosenberg doesn't even seem to realize what's happening as his comics empire collapses around him.

But if you are interested, or maybe if you just feel bad, you can head over to ComiXology and pick them up before the sale ends on August 6th.

A prophecy once said that in the comic book industry's darkest days, a hero would come to lead the people through a plague of overpriced floppies, incentive variant covers, #1 issue reboots, and super-mega-crossover events. Sadly, that prophecy was wrong. Oh, Jude Terror was right. For ten years. About everything. But nobody listened. And so, Jude Terror has moved on to a more important mission: turning Bleeding Cool into a pro wrestling dirt sheet!
