Donny Cates and Juanan Ramirez Retcon the Vietnam War in Venom: Ve’Nam

If you’re a fan of what Donny Cates and Ryan Stegman are doing with the history of symbiotes in the Marvel Universe in the new Venom series, then you won’t want to miss this newly announced one-shot hitting stores in August. Cates is teaming up with artist Juanan Ramirez to alter the history of the Vietnam War in a new story called Web of Venom: Ve’Nam, in which Nick Fury, Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. finds a Klyntar symbiote ancestor and attempts to use it as a weapon. Hijinx, naturally, ensue.

CBR had the EXCLUSSSIVE reveal of the solicit. Of course, they also claimed to have the first reveal of the August’s five-issue weekly Venom mini-series, Venom: First Host, but in a typical non-shocker, that information was actually revealed more than a week earlier on Bleeding Cool. Pip pip. For that, we steal your EXCLUSSSIVE image, CBR.

Check out the solicit and cover (ugly CBR watermark variant) below:

COVER BY Ryan Stegman
As the United States of America struggled through the Vietnam War, Nick Fury of S.H.I.E.L.D. needed a secret weapon – and when an ancient creature was discovered at an archaeological dig site, he was sure he’d found it. In reality, the discovery was an ancestor of the Klyntar symbiotes…and would become a waking nightmare for a platoon of American soldiers!

About Jude Terror

A prophecy says that in the comic book industry's darkest days, a hero will come to lead the people through a plague of overpriced floppies, incentive variant covers, #1 issue reboots, and super-mega-crossover events.

Scourge of Rich Johnston, maker of puns, and seeker of the Snyder Cut, Jude Terror, sadly, is not the hero comics needs right now... but he's the one the industry deserves.
