Gail Simone Wants In On That Red Sonja Movie Reboot

Earlier today, we told you about Millennium Media and Cinelou’s plans to reboot Red Sonja as a movie franchise. Sonja hasn’t appeared on screen since the 1985 film starring Brigitte Nielsen and Arnold Schwarzenegger. The plan has been fast tracked following the success of DC’s Wonder Woman, with Millennium’s Avi Lerner saying:

“We have been waiting for the right time for this remake, and with the success of Wonder Woman, the audience has spoken. They want female heroes.”

Well, someone who knows a little something about both Wonder Woman and Red Sonja appears to be interested in helping out — which is perfect, because the production is actively seeking a writer for the film. Superstar writer Gail Simone tweeted:

Simone has written dozens of issues of both character’s comic books. If Millennium has any sense, they’ll hire Simone right away. They said they wanted to “fast track” the process, didn’t they? We’d say a few hours is a pretty good turnaround time.

About Jude Terror

A prophecy says that in the comic book industry's darkest days, a hero will come to lead the people through a plague of overpriced floppies, incentive variant covers, #1 issue reboots, and super-mega-crossover events.

Scourge of Rich Johnston, maker of puns, and seeker of the Snyder Cut, Jude Terror, sadly, is not the hero comics needs right now... but he's the one the industry deserves.
