To go along with the Garth Ennis Groupees deal going on right now, Dynamite has sent us the first issue of The Boys by Ennis and artist Darick Robertson.
This was a controversial series that started off at WildStorm where the first six issues were published. The series was cancelled by WildStorm’s parent company, DC Comics, who were said to be uneasy with the anti-superhero tones of the series. A new home was found in Dynamite Entertainment and the exclusive Robertson was given permission by DC to continue on the series. The 7th issue and a collection of the first six issues were then published.
The Boys are a black ops team trained to police superhero activity. The tone of the series is graphic and adult with a dark sense of humor that Ennis fans appreciate.
The current Groupees deal focuses on Ennis’ work at Dynamite and include The Boys, Battlefields, Jennifer Blood, Nijettes and Red Team.
