Dave Sim Does Superman For Aardvark Comics #1

Every issue a new number one! Dave Sim continues to republish his Cerebus online strips, with new stuff, with each issue parodying a classic comic book and getting a new issue one in the process. A practice first perfected by Evan Dorkin, I believe, for Milk & Cheese back in the day.

So Aardvark Comics takes on that 1938 Action Comics #1 cover and throws in a little Hieronymus Bosch. Gustave Doré and Munch to match the Joe Shuster.

Cerebus creator Dave Sim recently revealed a condition that has left him unable to draw in the traditional sense. Sim remains one of the most fascinating comic book creators alive, but his puppetry of others hasn’t been received as well. Gerhard is currently drawing funny animal comics for Grant Morrison in Heavy Metal Magazine, Dave Sim is finding new ways to photoshop his old self…

Aardvark Comics #1 is out in September, details and cover below.
