Fox's Untitled X-Men Show Casts Burn Notice Alum Coby Bell In Thinly Veiled Attack On Ike Perlmutter

The secret war between Marvel and Fox that has, for the last several months, been playing out on the battlefield of casting announcements for the studios' upcoming television shows, was nearly won last week by Ike Perlmutter's forces when Marvel announced the casting of several members of the Inhuman royal family in one day. However, now the the smoke has cleared, Fox has cleared away the rubble, buried their dead back, and returned fire by casting Burn Notice alum Coby Bell in their upcoming untiled X-Men TV show as a character named Jace Turner, who Deadline describes as "a weathered man who quietly wrestles with the moral ambiguities of a job that regularly requires cold-blooded, calculating efficiency on a day-to-day basis."

In addition to the back-and-forth game of one-upsmanship that the studios have been playing so far, could this character description be a direct attack on Perlmutter himself, a weathered man whose calculated decisions to boost Marvel's efficiency have included "removing paper clips from waste bins, tearing up discarded paper in quarters to be used as note paper, and demanding the catering budget be cut for press?" Certainly, donating millions of dollars to SuperPACs supporting Donald Trump must be considered morally ambiguous.

It will be interesting to see what kind of counter-attack Perlmutter will order in response to this latest announcement, but, like the brave journalists embedded in combat zones throughout history, Bleeding Cool will continue to put our own lives in danger to bring you the latest casting news from these two highly anticipate superhero TV shows.

A prophecy claims that in the comic book industry's darkest days, a hero would come to lead the people through a plague of overpriced floppies, incentive variant covers, #1 issue reboots, and super-mega-crossover events. Unfortunately, nobody can tell when the comics industry has reached its "darkest days" because it somehow keeps finding new lows to sink to. No matter! Jude Terror stands vigilant, bringing the snarkiest of comic book and pro wrestling clickbait to the undeserving readers of Bleeding Cool.
