Pokemon Go Details Surface In Wake Japanese Field Test

Details about Pokemon Go have only come in drips or drabs, but there has been an influx in recent weeks. The mobile game is slowly coming to fruition, and we are seeing that bloom emerge.

And we've just gotten our most in depth info dump on the game thanks to Japanese field tests currently taking place. A bunch of information in the wake of this has been collected by reddit user Juxlos on the Pokemon Go subreddit (via GameSpot). There is a lot here and I will curate the most important parts:

There are 151 Pokemon data files in the game, all from the first generation. They are classed into normal, legendary, and mythic.

There are 232 moves and some of the include moves that are not in the original games

There is a dodge function.

Badges aren't won by typical Gym matches in per the games. Instead "Badges = Achievements. Includes: Walking a certain distance (Ingress Trekker), Pokedex entries, Pokemon Captures, Forts(Gyms?) defeated (Ingress Liberator?), Evolved, Hatched, Encounters, Pokestops visited(Ingress Hacker?), Unique Pokestops(Ingress Explorer), Pokeball thrown."

There are Pokemon "natures".

There are all the Pokemon types, including the new ones like Fairy.

"Evolution works by collecting "evolution shards" from wild Pokemon to get "evolution stones". May or may not be unique for each Pokemon."

Micro-transactions include "ball", "medicine", "food" bundles and "gem" packs. There are 4 tiers.

The trainer level cap looks to be set at 50.

There seems to be a day/night cycle.

There is a bunch more being deciphered at the moment, so do go look at the original post if you want more. It's hard to say how involving this game will be, but this always felt like a Pokemon Lite experience. But hey, if I can get Pokemon and achievements from just walking around in my day to day, I can get behind that.
