Things To Do In The Midlands This Week If You Like Comics. And Other Things.

mcm_midlands_comic_con-1Olly MacNamee writes,

The MCM Midlands Comic Con returns to the International Centre in Telford this coming weekend, Saturday 15th February 2014, and as well as popular returning guest Hannah Spearrit (Primeval, S Club 7) the big draw no doubt will be the appearance of several stars of Red Dwarf, Danny John Jules (Cat), Chris Barrie (Rimmer) and Hattie Hayridge (Holly).

For comic fans there is, of course, the comic village, which has a strong indie-press presence as you can see by clicking here as well as a plethora of dealers from across the country.

Anime fans should be happy, with the inclusion of Anime and video game voice-over artist, Vic Mignogna (Full Metal Alchemist: The Sacred Star of Milos, Pokemon).

For cosplayers there will be the MCM Masquerade which usually takes part at the end of the day, so get dressed, get registered and get on down to Telford this Saturday. I really like the fact that in recent years cosplayers have been encouraged to participate more openly in cons across the UK and this only adds to the fun and atmosphere of the day for all as well as attracting younger, next-gen readers. I know that the cosplayers, professional or not, appeal to younger kids and get them interested, which can only be a good thing for the future of comics, anime and conventions.

See you there!
