This Week In Avengers Vs X-Men

There's been a lot happening in Avengers Vs X-Men this week. Possibly more than happened in the actual comic. Some of it gets a little confusing as well. Let's see if we can work it out.

Because although Wolverine was dumped, JJ Abrams Star Trek style, in the winter wilderness by Captain America… I'm not sure which of this weeks' books happen before that.

Well, New Avengers #26 obviously does, deciding to tell its AVX chapter by not having any Avengers in it. Or X-Men, come to that. But we do have Leonardo Da Vinci and a retconned Iron Fist, all portrayed in an exceedingly pretty fashion. And for those of you missing your Jonathan Hickman SHIELD, this should tickle all those spots that have remained untickled waiting for the final issues.

In Wolverine And The X-Men #10, the school is visited by Utopia X-Men, with Wolverine getting all grumpy, three hours after the fight on the beach of Utopia. And although we missed much of an Avengers Vs X-Men fight in the main issue, here we have Emma Frost versus Wolverine, Krakoa vs Cyclops, Iceman vs Illyana… okay, it's basically X-Men Vs X-Men, but you work with what you have.

This book works at its best when Jason Aaron keeps it within the school grounds, and that's very evident here as students look to their selves to work out who they are and where they should be. And Chris Bachalo takes a kitchen table discussion between Iceman and Rachel and makes it a visual tour de force. Outstanding.

But here's the thing. At the end, Iceman and Angel nick off to Utopia.

But over in X-Men Legacy #266, Iceman is still at the school. It's also after the Utopia beach scenes. So presumably it takes pleace between that and Wolverine Vs X-Men #10. Let's say it takes place immediately after Utopia.  After a meeting, the comic then goes forward an hour… leaving only one-and-a-bit hours before Wolverine Vs X-Men #10 has to start. Then a bunch of Avengers turn up, there's a big fight, wrecking the ground, and then another of the main Avengers turns up. And it gives us a "to be continued" and I'm thinking… yeah, which means next issue has to take place before this week's Wolverine And The X-Men as well.. and I just don't think there's enough room. And wouldn't someone in Wolverine And X-Men #10 have mentioned the mess, and the recent arrival of Avengers?

Sorry, sorry, this is what I do… also, between X-Men Legacy and Wolverine And The X-Men, Gambit seems to have had  elocution lessons. Well, it is a school after all…
