Licensing.biz tells us that Warners is working from a three year calendar matching DC Comics with licensing partners, that covers the new Green Lantern Film, new Superman and Batman films (yes, films) and the Batman Live! arena tour.
Deals include Green Lantern appearing on bottle of Pepsi Boom in Italy. Mattel toys all over the world. And Green Lantern: Emerald Knights DVDs will be stuffed full of promotional inserts.
But at the International Licensing event at Las Vegas next week all they will be talking about is The Dark Knight Rises.
Bruno Schwobthaler, SVP sales and business development for WBCP EMEA, is quoted as saying "Over the next three years there will be no escaping from the DC Universe as we deliver on our commitment to produce new content. We will be investing significant resource in further developing the iconic Batman and Superman franchises whilst also strategically introducing some of the other key characters from the huge and largely untapped DC portfolio starting with Green Lantern."
