"ThunderCats Roar!" – Meet Lion-O: He's Going Out There, Finding Some Dangerous Stuff & Fighting It – As Long as It's Not Large Cookie Jars [VIDEO]

The battle between Lion-O's ThunderCats and Mumm-Ra comes crashing onto Cartoon Network with ThunderCats Roar!, Warner Bros. Animation's reboot of the feline-like alien heroes. How excited? It made our The Bleeding Cool Top 30 TV Series Influencers 2020 list in a big way – but you can read up more on that here.

Less than a month after Cartoon Network confirmed that the series would see the light of day in 2020, viewers were treated to an official teaser that shared our heroes' backstory on the road to Third Earth – and how they'll need to protect their new home from an old threat.

Now we know when their battle for Third Earth will be waged, with the series launching on Cartoon Network with "Exodus Part 1 & 2" starting Saturday, February 22, at 10:30 a.m. ET/PT. Episodes "The Legend of Boggy Ben" and "Prank Call" will follow on Saturday, February 29.

To get viewers ready, Cartoon Network is introducing (reintroducing?) viewers to the series' "Who's Who" – beginning with a focus on ThunderCats team leader, Lion-O. Not just born to lead but one who damn well enjoys it, our fearless leader doesn't hesitate to jump into the fray – with magical sword in hand and bravery in heart.

And a fear of large cookie jars forever weighing on his mind…

Meet Lion-O and the Thundercats! After fleeing their home planet, the Thundercats find themselves stranded on Third Earth where they face the evil Mumm-Ra. But Lion-O is strong! He's tough! There's nothing he can't do! Except maybe open really big jars of cookies…

Now here's a look at the series trailer and overview, as well as a look at the two-part series premiere:

"ThunderCats Roar!" season 1, episode 1 "Exodus: Part 1 & 2" – Fleeing the destruction of their home planet Thundera, Lion-O and the ThunderCats land on the mysterious, dangerous, all-around awesome world of Third Earth! "I think the world that they built lends itself really well to comedy because of how silly and crazy and outlandish those ideas are and some of those settings are. But at the same time, it wouldn't be ThunderCats if it didn't have super cool action elements because that's what people came back to. It's very much something that we want to lean on. So with the new show, we're not walking away from the action in any bit. Every step we take towards comedy, we take two more towards really cool action scenes and explosions and lasers and actions effects."

Going with an animation style and new approach to the characters, show producer Victor Courtright spoke with Entertainment Weekly about what fans can expect:

Staying true to the premise of the original series, Lion-O and the ThunderCats — Tygra, Panthro, Cheetara, Wilykat, and Wilykit — barely escape the sudden destruction of their home world, Thundera, only to crash land on the mysterious and exotic planet of Third Earth. Lion-O, the newly appointed Lord of the ThunderCats, attempts to lead the team as they make this planet their new home. A bizarre host of creatures and villains stand in their way, including the evil Mumm-Ra, Third Earth's wicked ruler who will let nothing, including the ThunderCats, stop his tyrannical reign over the planet.
