John Carpenter to Write The Joker: Year of the Villain Special

Legendary filmmaker John Carpenter will write DC's The Joker: Year of the Villain special. Carpenter will be joined by frequent collaborator Anthony Burch as co-writer and artist Phillip Tan. The book will focus on The Joker trying to be a bigger villain than all the other villains given "The Offer" by Lex Luthor because he's the Joker, dammit.

The news was revealed by a DC media partner website and then quickly taken down, presumably due to confusion over embargoes, though it had already propagated to another website sourcing the first one, which also promptly took the article down, but not before a lovely, anonymous person took screenshots and sent them to us.

Luckily, Bleeding Cool is blacklisted by DC for being naughty boys and girls, and thus not subject to any embargoes, so we can tell you what the other sites aren't allowed to yet. Pip pip!

The Joker: Year of the Villain #1 hits stores in October. Look to hear more about it shortly once DC is forced to lift the embargo now that we've published our EX-X-XCLUSIVE.

A prophecy once said that in the comic book industry's darkest days, a hero would come to lead the people through a plague of overpriced floppies, incentive variant covers, #1 issue reboots, and super-mega-crossover events. Sadly, that prophecy was wrong. Oh, Jude Terror was right. For ten years. About everything. But nobody listened. And so, Jude Terror has moved on to a more important mission: turning Bleeding Cool into a pro wrestling dirt sheet!
