Bears vs. Climate Change and Capitalism in Care Bears: Unlock the Magic #1 (Preview)

Wednesday sees the release of a new Care Bears comic from IDW with Care Bears: Unlock the Magic #1. And if this preview is any indication, the Care Bears are planning to care… about political issues! It begins with Grumpy expressing dismay at the wear and tear on his bear body thanks to performing nonstop backbreaking labor under the capitalist system.

With Dibble delivering a frank indictment of big business.

But Grump and Dibble's socialist manifesto will have to wait, as the Care Bears have a mission to stop the destruction of the environment, particularly the effects of climate change at the Glass Glaciers.

If the Glaciers are damaged, it could have a profound effect on the Earth's magical resources.

And those effects would cascade throughout the agricultural economy, preventing the planting and sowing of seeds of caring.

Hopefully, the Care Bears will be able to Unlock the Magic triumph over these existential threads.

Care Bears: Unlock the Magic #1 hits stores on Wednesday.
