Have you always wanted to be able to explain to your friends and family who don't read comics who the heck the X-Men are? If the answer is yes, then Marvel Comics is doing you a favor with their upcoming X-Men: Seminal Moments four-part web series which will release this week.

Marvel Launches 4-Part Web Series 'X-Men: Seminal Moments'

Episodes 1-3 will be available beginning this week (with 4 coming next week) and will feature a retrospective on four different comic book issues that redefined who and what the X-Men were for generations of fans: 1975's Giant-Size X-Men No. 1, which introduced Storm, Colossus, Nightcrawler and Wolverine to the team; 1991's X-Men No. 1, which reunited past and present members of the team before splitting them into two different teams for the next decade; 1995's Age of Apocalypse, where an alternate reality overtook the line and offered a new take on the franchise; and 2001's New X-Men No. 114.

Big names in the X-books like Chris Claremont, Larry Hama, Adam Kubert, and Jonathan Hickman are slated to make appearances on the series.

Episode 2 is coming on May 22nd, episode 3 on May 24th, and episode 4 on May 28th ahead of the theatrical release of Dark Phoenix, the last of the Fox-studios X-Men films on June 7th.

Bleeding Cool News Editor Mary Anne Butler (Mab, for short) has been part of the fast-paced world of journalism since she was 15, getting her start in album reviews and live concert coverage for a nationally published (print) music magazine. She eventually transitioned to online media, writing for such sites as UGO/IGN, ComicsOnline, Geek Magazine, Ace of Geeks, Aggressive Comix (where she is still Editor-in-Chief), and most recently Bleeding Cool.

Over the past 10 years, she’s built a presence at conventions across the globe as a cosplayer (occasionally), photographer (constantly), panelist and moderator (mostly), and reporter (always).

Interviews, reviews, observations, breaking news, and objective reporting are the name of the game for the founder of Harkonnen Knife Fight, a Dune-themed band with an international presence.

Though she be but little, she is fierce. #MabTheProfessional
