Wolverine: Exit Wounds One-Shot to Feature Chris Claremont, Larry Hama, Sam Keith, and Salvador Larocca

Though they continue to pay him a retainer to remain Marvel exclusive while refusing to allow him to write an ongoing comic, Marvel has announced a new short story by Chris Claremont to appear in the upcoming Wolverine: Exit Wounds one-shot in June. Claremont will team with Salvador Larroca for a story set during the final scenes of Kitty Pryde and Wolverine. Marvel revealed the news through compliant Marvel media partner Newsarama. Why? Probably just to hurt our feelings.

Nevertheless, it's good to see new Claremont, even if it just one story in a one-shot comic, rather than a regular gig where he could tell longterm stories, which Marvel is withholding from fans out of what we can only assume is pure spite. Why else would you keep a living legend under contract and hardly ever let him write anything? It doesn't make any sense otherwise.

But we digress. Also featured in the one-shot are the great Larry Hama and Sam Keith, also big news, and both will also tell Wolverine stories set in the past. Also interesting is Larroca working on the story, as we're waiting to see whether he'll be continuing on Uncanny X-Men. Larocca was caught rudely complaining about the coloring of Rachelle Rosenberg on Facebook in January, and, subsequently, GuruFX has been coloring the book. However, May's issues of Uncanny X-Men will be drawn by Carlos Gomez and Carlos Villa respectively. Will Larocca be back after that, or not? Likewise, will Rosenberg return to colors if Larocca is gone? June's solicits could reveal all.
