Brie Larson Explains Why She Believes Captain Marvel Is so Unique

When it comes to superheroes we like to see and watch people that are larger than life. However, the thing that makes these characters compelling is that despite the fact that they have powers, they still feel incredibly human. Carol Danvers in Captain Marvel might be the strongest character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe but that doesn't mean she is perfect. For actress Brie Larson, as she told CinemaBlend, it's Carol's flaws that make her a great character.

I love that she's flawed. I love the fact that because she's a risk taker, you watch someone who also then falls on her face because they're swinging big, that feels very relatable to me. I love that you see someone who doesn't always make the right judgment call. A lot of the time with action heroes and superheroes, they're always perfect, they always make the right call and I think it's important to watch people make mistakes and atone for those mistakes.

The problem at Carol could face is that her mistakes could have consequences that could effect entire planets. However, it's fun that Marvel isn't making their first solo heroine some kind of perfect woman because she is a woman. The Carol of the comics is a bit of a mess but it's what has made her such an enduring character. Let's hope this live-action version of Carol is just as messy and enduring.

Summary: Carol Danvers becomes one of the universe's most powerful heroes when Earth is caught in the middle of a galactic war between two alien races.

Captain Marvel, directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck, will also star Brie Larson, Jude Law, Gemma Chan, Djimon Hounsou, Lee Pace, Lashana Lynch, Samuel L. Jackson. The film is set for release on March 8th, 2019.
