The Nintendo Wii Shop Will Close Next Week

A little bit of a reminder for those of you who own Wii and Wii U consoles, Nintendo will be shuttering the shop next week for good. Nintendo made the announcement several months ago, but this week the reality for many users has finally sunk in that this portion of the console will be done for good. If you have points, this is the time to pick and choose what you want to spend them on and get some kind of use from them before they vanish as well.

The console had a pretty good run, even though it got a mixture of praise for innovation and criticism for not being able to compete with consoles from either the previous gen or the current one. The library for it isn’t that bad, either, although there are some missteps from Nintendo here and there. The official date for the Wii Shop shutdown will happen on January 30th, 2019.
