Kevin Feige Talks the Fox Merger and Finally Having Access to all of Those Characters

The merger between Fox and Disney was the biggest story to come out of 2018. There are a lot of people who are excited about it and even more that are very nervous about what this could mean for the future of filmmaking. Some of the people that are excited are Marvel fans who are thrilled to see the X-Men and the Fantastic Four in the hands of a studio that has more hits than misses. Kevin Feige was at the Golden Globes and spoke to MTV about how excited he is and that he isn't excited for one specific character but all of them.

"The truth is I'm excited for all of them. I'm excited and it's not just the marquee names, you know, it's 100's of names on those documents, on those agreements. And the fact that Marvel is as close as we may ever get now to having access to all of the characters is something I've been dreaming about for my almost 20 years at Marvel. It's very exciting."

MTV mentioned that Adam McKay has said that he wants to direct a Silver Surfer movie and Feige was asked if he'd heard from McKay about the project.

"I've not gotten a call yet but I've seen Adam [McKay] tonight and at a number of these awards and he is, as everyone knows, an incredibly smart guy he's an honest to goodness fan. You know, he did a lot of behind-the-scenes help with us on the first Ant-Man film and have you seen Vice? Little cameo? Little Galactus cameo in there that we helped him get. So, I look forward to speaking with him more."

We have two X-Men movies due out this year and the future of the mutants is very much unknown right now. Marvel has likely been thinking of a way to bring the mutants into the MCU for years and it'll be interesting to see what they come up with.
