Valve is Putting an End to Steam Link Hardware

If you happen to be one of the people currently using one of Valve's Steam Link devices, you're also going to be one of the few using it soon. The company kind of quietly announced they would not be making any more hardware for the service, and that the remaining items would be sold off. As of the time we're posting this, the European stock had completely sold out and the only remaining supplies were located in the United States. Valve has said they'll continue supporting the software to the device moving forward.

If you don't know what a Steam Link device is, it's basically a streaming box for your games where you can play Steam titles on your mobile devices or HDTV, kind of like using a Roku, with an HDMI cable broadcasting the game in 1080p at 60 FPS. But based off Valve's reaction to the device, we're guessing it didn't catch on like they had hoped it would. Apple has removed the iOS app for the device, but it's still in the beta section for the Google Play store for Android, in case you're using it for mobile devices.
