Twitter has suspended the account of high-profile political cartoonist Matt Bors, apparently in response to a Tweet earlier this week joking:
Reminder for tomorrow: PLEASE don’t take your antifa super soldier serum until ten minutes before polls open. You will NOT be at full strength to lop off the heads of whites if you dose early. We want beautiful clean separations, people.

Twitter has been criticized heavily for an unwillingness to take meaningful steps to prevent the use of the platform for harassment or the spread of hate speech — former KKK leader David Duke, for example, still maintains an active Twitter account — so the decision to ban Bors for a joke is obviously not going over very well, with some of Bors’ cartoonist and journalist colleagues tweeting in response.
okay @jack @twitter you just suspended my friend, the PULITZER-FINALIST, HERBLOCK WINNING CARTOONIST @MattBors????

Ohh, @jack just suspended the account of an award winning editorial cartoonist with LOTS of editorial cartoonist friends and colleagues.
Might want to rectify this before it gets very embarrassing for you.

Twitter suspended political cartoonist Matt Bors. Anyone know why? I mean, he's only a Pulitzer finalist. It's not like he's a nazi or something. OH wait, nazis are still ok here on Twitter.

To think @MattBors was issuing a threat requires you to believe super-soldier serum is real. It’s now easier for @Twitter to suspend political cartoonists than, y’know, Nazis.

Oh my FUCKING god. Everyone, go read Pulitzer Prize Finalist and Herblock Winning cartoonist @MattBors's brilliant political comics while we wait for his return: https://t.co/9hauBTrUcR https://t.co/H2aHBV7kSv

Amongst other places, Bors’ work can be found regularly on The Nib, where he is Editor-in-Chief, with his lastest comic published on November 6th. Could we expect a certain theme to the cartoons published on the Nib tomorrow morning?
