Super7's Boodega is a Universal Monsters Fan's Dream

Super7 is hosting their second activation of the week in San Diego. That's right, second. After the success of Hordak's Lair, they had a tough act to follow. Luckily they had the right stuff to do it. The Universal Monsters Boodega was the big coming out party for their new line of products based on the classic supernatural beings.

Right from the outside, with it's old barbershop-style window art, Monster Kids like myself feel welcome and right at home. When you walked inside, a center table contained the liited to only one pair in each size shoe being offered. Four were available, and they sold out pretty dang fast. Also on the table were four awesome Ed Repka prints featuring The Bride, Frankenstein's Monster, The Creature From the Black Lagoon, and The Mummy. Each of those was limited to only 50 of each.

The staff a Super7 also goes above and beyond customer service-wise. Not only were they fun and engaging, but my bag broke inside and they taped a box for me no questions asked. Shout-out to talking about figures and helping me out of a bind there guys.

My favorite items I got in the Boodega however are the Monster Soda and Retro Creature From the Black Lagoon mask. The soda was bottled in three different flavors for four different Universal Monsters: Dracula, Invisible Man, Creature From the Black Lagoon, and Metaluna. I got the Invisible Man "Invisabubble" citrus soda, and the Creature " Amazon Apple" soda. Both were quite tasty, and it makes me sad I will never have them again.

The retro mask is where its at though. It comes in a vintage-style box, and invokes the classic masks of old. Creature is fine, but I wish their had been a Wolfman. It is made of really cool plastic, just like the old days, and is a must-have for collectors.

Pins, pennants, and the variant colorways for the first four figures in their new ReAction line, and you have the makings of one of the coolest takeovers at SDCC this year. Check out everything below, and if you are in San Diego you still have time to stop today. The Boodega will be open 11-5 on Sunday. 701 Eighth Ave. San Diego, CA 92101
