Japan's Dockless Nintendo Switch is Not Coming to the West
Sad news for anyone looking to snag one of those fancy new-looking dockless Nintendo Switch consoles that are currently being sold in Japan. Apparently, the company has zero plans at the moment of releasing a version in North America. The news broke today on US Gamer, who made an update to their story about it after getting a quick note about it from the company.
Update: In a statement to USgamer, Nintendo explained they "have no plans to release this configuration in the Americas." So if you want that second Switch looks like you'll be paying full price. That is honestly some very disappointing news, as this is basically the answer to everyone's wishes to make the console more portable. This is the kind of thing where Nintendo would have a license to print money if people knew they could get a Switch at a cheaper rate and also have an easier time taking it with them wherever they wanted. Plus, look at that design! Slanted just the right way for a tabletop play. Hopefully the company will change their minds.
