The Killing Joke Gets a Sideways View for Absolute Killing Joke + Full Script

DC Comics is putting out an Absolute Edition for Alan Moore and Brian Bolland's classic Batman story The Killing Joke.

Absolute Editions, pioneered by Scott Dunbier for The Authority series, are oversized-hardcover volumes in a slipcase. And in this case, the slipcase will have a new cover by Brian Bolland, a profile version of the original famous cover.

And it contains a few more bits and bobs as well. Including the script, never before published in full. Here's the listing:

One of the bestselling graphic novels of all-time finally gets the Absolute treatment, as BATMAN: THE KILLING JOKE is presented in a 30th Anniversary hardcover slipcase edition!

Critically acclaimed writer Alan Moore redefined the super-hero with Watchmen and V for Vendetta. In Batman: The Killing Joke, he takes on the origin of comics' greatest super-villain, The Joker–and changes Batman's world forever. Batman: The Killing Joke is Alan Moore's unforgettable meditation on the razor-thin line between sanity and insanity, heroism and villainy, comedy and tragedy.

According to the grinning engine of madness and mayhem known as The Joker, that's all that separates the sane from the psychotic. Freed once again from the confines of Arkham Asylum, he's out to prove his deranged point. And he's going to use Gotham City's top cop, Commissioner Jim Gordon, and his brilliant and beautiful daughter Barbara to do it.

Now Batman must race to stop his archnemesis before his reign of terror claims two of the Dark Knight's closest friends. Can he finally put an end to the cycle of bloodlust and lunacy that links these two iconic foes before it leads to its fatal conclusion? And as the horrifying origin of the Clown Prince of Crime is finally revealed, will the thin line that separates Batman's nobility and The Joker's insanity snap once and for all?

Absolute Batman: The Killing Joke collects Batman: The Killing Joke and stories from Batman: Black & White #4, Countdown #31, Who's Who in the DC Universe #13, with bonus material that includes Brian Bolland's new coloring from the Deluxe Edition, the original John Higgins coloring, all 128 pages of the script that has never been published before, Brian Bolland's Joker covers and sketches, previously unpublished Bolland Batman/Joker sketches and more!
