Take-Two Interactive State They Don't Expect Red Dead Redemption 2 To Get Another Delay

Take-Two Interactive has come out and reiterated that it expects Red Dead Redemption 2's October 2018 release date to stick in an investor's call.

Red Dead Redemption 2 has seen two significant delays now. That isn't all the surprising though given past context. The studio's games are known to bounce around the calendar before making a final release, but thankfully it is always worth it. People certainly seem to understand these push backs because, well, Rockstar put out some of the best games in the medium. However, everyone has a breaking point and I think another lengthy delay would certainly have people wondering what was up.

Rockstar's parent company Take-Two Interactive say that isn't happening. In an investors call (via GameSpot), CEO Strauss Zelnick spoke on the developer's behalf and said he was sure the game wouldn't see a further delay. He said:

The entire focus of this organisation is on delivering the highest quality entertainment experiences of any kind. More often than not, we feel proud that we're able to do that. All of our labels are focused on releasing a title when they reach that apex of effort and perfection. And in this instance, Rockstar Games felt more polish was required, and naturally we are in favour of that decision [to delay Red Dead Redemption 2]. The date of October 26 is set, and I am confident that will be the release date. We are incredibly excited about it.

I mean, of course, the company who just announced a new release date isn't going to say they won't hit it, but this does feel right to me. This delay was the first one with a solid date and not a release window. Also, two major delays are about as far as you can get with it before fans backlash, so I think everyone involved will be breaking their backs to meet the date. I hope they do!
