Marvel to Collect Brute Force Alongside Power Pachyderms and Suburban Jersey Ninja She-Devils

I should be seeing Simon Furman tomorrow night; I am totally going to rib him for this. But only three years after they last returned in the Deadpool Bi-Annual 2014, Marvel Comics are to collect the original mini-series Brute Force from 1990, by Furman, Jose Delbo, and Mike DeCarlo.

Brute Force was a team of cybernetically enhanced wild animals billed as "Protectors of the Environment" who are all walking, flying, or swimming weapons. The kind of thing that decades later, Grant Morrison would look at and go, "Hrm."

It's collection now is baffling — unless it's to get it out there before the We3 adaptation.

But it's not alone. It also includes Marvel's X-Men parody one-shot Power Pachyderms from 1989, which I remember picking up from the local newsagents in Pontefract — how it made it there, I don't know — by Roger Stern and Madeleine Blaustein. And also one I had never heard of until this very moment: Suburban Jersey Ninja She-Devils by… OMG, it's by Steve Gerber and Amanda Conner. How on earth did I miss that?

And although the listing doesn't mention Deadpool Bi-Annual #1, the credits list Nick Giovannetti, Paul Scheer, and Salva Espi, the creators of that volume, so one can expect that to be in with the rest. Published on August 28th, 2018 for $24.99.

Wreckless the bear! Soar the eagle! Surfstreak the dolphin! Hip Hop the kangaroo! And Lionheart the, uh, lion! They're the cybernetically-enhanced protectors of the environment, Brute Force! And they're fighting to save the Earth, whether you asked them to or not! They'll have to battle their beastly rivals, Heavy Metal – a cyborg-enhanced shark, rhino, gorilla, octopus and vulture! Plus, if Brute Force wasn't wild enough for you, check out more off beat antics from Marvel's vaults: the crimefi ghting elephants known as the Power Pachyderms…and Steve Gerber's bizarre Suburban Jersey Ninja She-Devils!

COLLECTING: BRUTE FORCE 1-4, POWER PACHYDERMS 1, SUBURBAN JERSEY NINJA SHE-DEVILS 1
