New Kingsman Comic In Playboy Magazine, And It’s All About Brexit

Tomorrow sees the release of the second Kingsman comic book series, The Red Diamond, now by Rob Williams and Simon Fraser, as Mark Millar, Matthew Vaughan, and Dave Gibbons take it easy. The comic is now actually called Kingsman rather than The Secret Service — and published by Image Comics rather than Marvel Comics. And it’s tripping an uneasy balance between the movie continuity and the comic book canon…

But before you dive in to discover exactly how sweary Prince Philip can be when he is kidnapped, there’s been another Kingsman story just published from yet another publisher, also by Rob Williams with art from Ozgur Yildirim. It’s in the most recent issue of Playboy Magazine, published a week ago:

And inside a revisit of Eggsy to Peckham. Though he doesn’t seem to keen. Could this inspire the citizens of Peckham to burn their copies of Playboy Magazine in protest? No, probably not. But in the appears there has been a suggestion that Britain will have to pay £50 billion to the European Union for Brexit, which Mark Millar campaigned in favour of, to pay for various previously made commitments. Kingsman doubles it. And for some reason, doesn’t go for a bank money transfer.Naturally, because this is Kingsman and a Mark Millar property, they will no doubt be respectful to international mores regarding cultural portrayals.

Well, I’m sure lampshading it will work. Don’t worry, there’s a twist! And even Peckham gets placated!

Playboy Magazine is available now. Kingsman: The Red Diamond #1 is published tomorrow by Image Comics.
