Brie Larson Wants Captain Marvel To Fight The Hulk

The eyes of the world recently and very suddenly turned to actress Brie Larson. Her breakout roles earned her critical acclaim, which eventually turned into winning an Academy Award. Then, last summer, she was announced as Carol Danvers, AKA Captain Marvel, and now she's going to be a superhero. Larson has a new movie coming out this week called The Glass Castle and she sat down with USA Today to talk about taking on the role of Captain Marvel, her directorial debut, and which Avenger she wants to fight.

Brie Larson Wants Captain Marvel To Fight The HulkTo take on a role in the Marvel universe is life changing in many different ways. Larson admits that her career kind of went from zero to sixty, so this isn't much of a change. In the end, though, she realized how important this role could be:

"The Captain Marvel thing was something I really spent a lot of time thinking about. And eventually I came to the conclusion that being part of a giant feminist film that can be a symbol for people, that was one I wished I would have had, just outweighs some of the small annoyances (of fame). Like, they're really small in comparison to the good that it can do."

Larson isn't just becoming a superhero and staring in Academy Award winning movies; she's also directed. She has spent most of the summer working on her directorial debut called Unicorn Store, which she described as "a discourse on silliness."

"[Unicorn Store is about] a young woman who wants to be an artist, but the (messy, childlike) way that she makes art doesn't really fit anywhere. [After getting kicked out of art school] she ends up back at home and is trying to be a normal person with a regular job and receives a mysterious invitation that leads her down a rabbit hole."

Brie Larson Wants Captain Marvel To Fight The HulkThe silly tone was intentional, because after movies like Short Tern 12 and Room, Larson admitted she needed a break from intense drama:

"I've had a really nice run with drama, but I wanted to do something that would inspire me and restore my faith and allow me to laugh on set all day."

Like anyone else that has joined the Marvel universe, Larson already know which Avenger she wants to take on in a fight:

"I do kind of have fantasies of battling The Hulk, just because that's, like, it's just visually so good."

Captain Marvel is said to be the strongest character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and while Hulk is a good guy, he's been known to fight his fellow Avengers.

Captain Marvel, directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck, will also Samuel L. Jackson. The film is set for release on March 8th, 2019.
