Moreci And Sherwood's '1985' Brings Punks, Losers, And Dropouts In Spaaaace To Heavy Metal In October

If there's one thing we always say we need more of, it's retro sci-fi epics set in the 1980s. If there's another thing we always say we need more of, it's alternate history dramas. And if there's a third thing, it's punk rock comics. A new series by Michael Moreci and Seth Sherwood aims to tick all three boxes from Heavy Metal in October.

1985 (the comic) is set in an alternate version of 1985 (the year) where Cuba launched nuclear missiles during the Cold War and everything went to ****, as evidenced by gigantic "CBR EXCLUSIVE" logos everywhere. Oh god! The Horror!

The CBR EXCLUSIVE  logos are even more horrifying when you realize that the book already had a listing on PreviewsWorld with the same cover by John Bivens, but without the EXCLUSIVE masking tape graphic.

1985

Additionally, while PreviewsWorld has a description of the series:

"Welcome to an alternate 1985 where the space race never slowed down, where the push away from Earth relies on duct tape, analog computers, and unstable solid rocket fuel. It's the worst. Max, Roach, Doc, and Bear are the dregs of the cosmos. Punks. Losers. Dropouts. They make cash repossessing the starships of deadbeats who don't make their payments. When they unknowingly jack a mysterious ship, they find themselves thrust into a conflict between the US and USSR. Targeted by American cyborg assassins, mad Soviet agents, Japanese video hackers, and every degenerate space punk bounty hunter between the Earth and Moon, their apolitical nihilistic morals are put to the test, making these losers into unlikely heroes."

CBR has an EXCLUSIVE description of the series that contains an EXCLUSIVE f-word:

"Welcome to an alternate 1985 where the space race never slowed down… where the push away from Earth relies on duct tape, analog computers, and unstable solid rocket fuel…

Fuck space.

Look for this in stores on October 11th, and see a doctor at the first sign of any rash that looks like a CBR EXCLUSIVE logo anywhere on your body.
