Just as Archie Comics’ grim and gritty reboot comicverse and Riverdale TV show have taken a more mature approach to storytelling, so too has Archie’s twitter account apparently grown snarky and cynical… and we love it!
Earlier today, Archie Comics made a joke about a fidget spinner episode of Riverdale:
riverdale season 2 jughead fidget spinner episode send tweet
— Archie Comics (@ArchieComics) July 7, 2017
And immediately noted:
or is it?
— Archie Comics (@ArchieComics) July 7, 2017
Prompting one follower to wonder:
Why are you like this?
— ㅤjoey,, jack pinned (@hugsdjh) July 7, 2017
And Archie Comics to snap back:
brain is poisoned from being online too much https://t.co/D517FtDm1R
— Archie Comics (@ArchieComics) July 7, 2017
But the snark didn’t stop there. After one follower suggested that Archie Comics (the twitter account) have a role on Riverdale….
@ArchieComics is the person running this account going to be in season 2
— mary (@thebvndsvisit) July 7, 2017
…And Archie Comics humbly replied…
don't think they need a funny tweet guy on the show https://t.co/AzijMJruts
— Archie Comics (@ArchieComics) July 7, 2017
…One follower tried an insult:
You would be even more cringy than you already are
— Saturn (@Rudniss) July 7, 2017
Archie Comics, however, wasn’t going to take that:
weird how twitter forces to you follow an account whose tweets you don't like. haven't seen that feature before. 🤔 https://t.co/Mjl0cnTD7Y
— Archie Comics (@ArchieComics) July 7, 2017
One follower asked:
https://twitter.com/camivixen/status/883353444836417542
To which Archie Comics replied:
just having fun online with all our great followers https://t.co/W8vYcHFe0H
— Archie Comics (@ArchieComics) July 7, 2017
Archie Comics, it seems, is willing to take on all challengers in the game of snark:
I like how you felt the need not to capitalize anything to make it edgier
— Amelia//22 (@Fandomsxxxxx) July 7, 2017
putting tweets in lowercase makes it more relatable. proven tweet method. https://t.co/xEQzsgGTP0
— Archie Comics (@ArchieComics) July 7, 2017
And when one follower had trouble believing this was actually the official Archie Comics account…
Do u know them personally?or is this just a fan page?then why verified?
— sprousehart (@bughead_fever) July 7, 2017
Archie Comics was happy to confirm:
this is the official archie comics account and that means we have the blue checkmark, which gives us special powers. https://t.co/aGTy5yZSX4
— Archie Comics (@ArchieComics) July 7, 2017
The lesson: don’t mess with Archie Comics on Twitter.
