Justice League Action Will Debut December 16 in US, November 26 in UK

Justice League Action, the new DC animated series from Cartoon Network we first saw footage from at SDCC, has finally got a premiere date! The show will kick off with a four-episode event called "Shazam Slam," or, as beleaguered website Newsarama calls it in the first paragraph of their highly cited report, "Shazmam Slam." The unfortunate typo is another major boner for the former House of Brady, as they needed a win after mistakenly reporting this weekend that Olivier Coipel would be replaced by R.B. Silva on Unworthy Thor #3, when the art for that issue was actually going to be handled by Kim Jacinto and Olivier Coipel. Too bad!

Luckily, embattled editor Chris Arrant managed to pull things together for the description of the event:

In 'Shazam Slam,' the villainous Black Adam battles Batman on the Rock of Eternity and unleashes a horde of Djinn determined to turn the Earth back to its pre-human, volcanic state. Affected by the otherworldly powers of these primordial monsters, Batman becomes possessed and is turned into a giant flying Batmonster laying waste to the Hall of Justice, with only Superman capable of taking the fight to the Dark Knight. One by one, the Justice League – with the help of Shazam (voiced by Sean Astin) and The Wizard (voiced by Carl Reiner) – must hunt down and defeat each Djinn in order to yet again save the world from destruction.

After the event, new episodes of the show will come out on Saturday mornings, starting December 24th. If you live in the U.K., however, you can watch it early, as Justice League Action debuts there on November 26th on Cartoon Network UK, which is some consolation for having to live in the same country as Bleeding Cool Editor-In-Chief Rich Johnston, who knows a thing or two about a typo himself. Here's a clip:

A prophecy once said that in the comic book industry's darkest days, a hero would come to lead the people through a plague of overpriced floppies, incentive variant covers, #1 issue reboots, and super-mega-crossover events. Sadly, that prophecy was wrong. Oh, Jude Terror was right. For ten years. About everything. But nobody listened. And so, Jude Terror has moved on to a more important mission: turning Bleeding Cool into a pro wrestling dirt sheet!
