Valiant Teases Deathmate For This Summer

Valiant has sent out the following teaser this morning, letting us all know that Deathmate is coming this summer. This is not the first time comic fans have seen the word Deathmate. Back in 1993 / 1994 there was a six-part prestige format miniseries of the same name that crossed over the Valiant universe with characters published by Image Comics.

The story evolved around the random meeting of Void from WildCATS and Dr. Solar. The two became lovers and their union threatened to tear both universes apart. The six issues included a prelude and an epilogue while the four main issues where denoted by color rather than number (Yellow, Blue, Red and Black). Valiant did the prologue, yellow and blue while the Image did red, black and the epilogue.

Since Void is now part of the DCU and Dr. Solar is over with Dynamite, it will be interesting to see how the company uses the name now.
