Destiny 2 May Not Be Launching This Year As Expected Says Report

DESTINYTHETAKENKINGFor a long time, based on leaked documents and court rulings, while never official, it was pretty much accepted knowledge that Destiny 2 was set for September 2016. The game was to have two mini DLCs both 'Years' with the a big DLC, what turned out to be the Taken King, breaking up major releases.

It seems something has changed though. There is currently no DLC announced for the game, instead only minor live events subsisting  the community since The Taken King.

That's because the it seems that original roadmap has changed. According to a report from Kotaku, the structure of Destiny has changed since it was originally planned, and now the next major release for the franchise, what we expected to be Destiny 2, is no longer coming this year, having been delayed. The report also says that it seems the developer isn't entirely sure how it will proceed with DLC in the near future, whether it will be free or paid, and just how it will all be packaged.

Destiny is a game that has shifted so, so much throughout development, and especially right now, it seems the studio has to make important decisions about what the franchise is going forward. I hope they figure it out soon too. The Taken King created good will, but us players are left holding the bag, trying to figure out what to fill our time with now. The game needs new content, sooner rather than later.
