Assassin's Creed: Syndicate's Vision Of Industrial London Had To Wait For Technology To Catch Up

Assassin's Creed SyndicateAs a fellow London native, I've been genuinely excited about seeing what Assassin's Creed: Syndicate has done with the city. I hear their reproductions are very historically accurate, and it will be neat to see if I can navigate the town with my pre-existing knowledge of the center.

It turns out that the vision of London during this time period couldn't have been made until now though. That is according to creative director Marc-Alexis Côté, who was speaking to Official PlayStation Magazine (via GamesRadar+). In an interview he said:

We had to wait for the technology to catch up. It's like we really wanted to build what I call 'modern London', which is actually Victorian London and the Industrial Revolution. I feel like the technology was not there to build a pretty city. All the carriages, all the people, those taller buildings, the wider streets; they take a lot of computing power, and we're there now.

Honestly, this sounds a little bit like marketing speech, as I'm sure Ubisoft could have made an approximation if they wanted to previously. I am glad they have waited for the power of these consoles though. Hopefully it's all QA tested to a tee.
