Final Fantasy XV Will Get A Simultaneous Worldwide Release Date
Often, Japanese games have a long period where they launch in their home country, and then weeks, months or sometimes even years, they finally see a Western release. That is all part of the extensivee localisation process these games have to go through.
That won't be the case with Final Fantasy XV though. For the first time ever in the history of the franchise, the game will launch the same day across the world. This was confirmed by game director Hajime Tabata to Gamespot in a recent interview. In it, he said:
This may be something that we are little bit embarrassed to talk about, but really, this is the first time that we've done a packaged, standalone Final Fantasy game with a simultaneous global launch.
So we didn't have the setup to deal with that, really. The first thing we had to do was rearrange our internal structure to create something that could do that. That was the first important work on the project.
This is good news, even if it probably should have happened a while ago. This franchise is simply too big to keep from the rest of the world for months at a time.
