Bleeding Cool Bestseller List – Guardians Of The Galaxy On The Rise

This is the Top Ten Bleeding Cool Bestseller List, as compiled by a number of comic stores from their sales on Wednesday and Thursday. It measures what are known as the "Wednesday Warriors", those who can't wait to the weekend to get this week's comics. We salute you, and the keenness you bring to your passion.

Guardians Of The Galaxy rises to the second spot as everyone goes wacky for Rocket Raccoon… and The Wake is rising in prominence too.

  1. Superior Spider-Man #28
  2. Guardians of Galaxy #12
  3. Uncanny Avengers #17
  4. Batman Superman #8
  5. Walking Dead #122
  6. The Wake #6 (of 10)
  7. Fantastic Four #1
  8. Origin II #3 (of 5)
  9. Wolverine #2
  10. Superman #28

Thanks to the following retailers

And here's what they had to say,

Superior Spider-Man was the clear winner this week. I think many people are jumping on board before the launch of Amazing Spider-Man #1.

Anything X-Men is selling. People are pretty hyped for the new movie and it is bringing older collectors back. It is funny that people are even tracking down the Jim Lee run and picking up all the covers. Who knows maybe the print run will actually be absorbed by collectors… finally.

Too many titles shipped this week, 103 total with 25 having an additional cover (mostly Dark Horse, Dynamite, IDW and one lone Avatar title). Tomb Raider #1 didn't sell as well as expected with so much other choices available. Fantastic Four #1 ANMN sold out in one day the same quantity, we sold over two weeks, of the Fantastic Four Marvel #1 NOW that was released back on November 14, 2012. Marvel wins this week hands down, with the top 4 books and 6 titles in the top 10.

With the Guardians of the Galaxy buzz for the movie new people checked out their series. Sold out the day the newest came out. Having Superior Spiderman guest star in Wolverine 2 really helped that issue. Superman's cool cover helped his newest issue sell out today. Miricleman is slowing down. People are finding it "dated" sadly.

She Hulk 1 all the sudden blew out of here after a very slow start. Forever Evil's main series first three issues we have to keep reordered due to demand. Not a bad problem to have.

Guardians of the Galaxy #12 sold out at most locations on arrival day as GOG mania has officially kicked in. Luckily, Marvel Comics, after investing millions of dollars in making this motion picture has wisely decided NOT to invest thousands of dollars in any useful synergy by having any of the Abnett & Lanning trades available for customers clamoring for more. Wouldn't want to accidentally turn someone into a comic reader!

All back issues of GOG's getting snatched up!
All back issues of ANNIHILATION and all the ANNIHILATION mini-series (Starlord, Nova) getting snatched up as well!

Huge Marvel week. Lots of big books. Customers were sad to say goodbye to Jason Aaron's Wolverine & the X-men for sure. Fantastic Four #1 did not do so well. I wholeheartedly believe Marvel's relaunch per year is just giving fans a reason to drop books. Half of our previous FF subscribers said they were just going to sit this one out because "Marvel will just relaunch it again next year anyway." Awesome to see Remender's two Image books selling so well. Both have been very well received with customers and we've been recommending them like crazy. Same with The Wake. Man do we love some Scott Snyder & Sean Murphy, and so do our customers. The numbers show! These indie titles are doing better than lots of big name DC & Marvel books and for good reason.

Sheltered back issues have flown off the shelves and people have been scooping up the first trade to see what it's all about after rumors of a television deal hit the internet. We've also seen Guardians of the Galaxy sales jump huge since the movie trailer last week with no end in sight. This is going to be a big year for Rocket & Groot I think!
