Tim Pilcher Tells Us All About Drugs, DC Comics And The Spice Girls That Wanted To Be Tank Girls

Posted by November 14, 2013 Comment

On Tuesday, Tim Pilcher launched Comic Book Bablyon at Gosh Comics a Kickstarter-funded memoir about his time in comics, principally working for DC Comics/Vertigo UK and Art Young. Subtitled a Cautionary Tale Of Sex, Drugs And Comics, he wasn’t kidding.

We learn how Geri and Victoria from the Spice Girls auditioned to be Tank Girl. Who the office’s drugs dealer was. Exactly what Pete Milligan said about Karen Berger, how they never did publish David Hine‘s Strange Embrace and how another publisher, Les Cartoonistes Dangereuse that Tim was involved with, used the Vertigo office – as their own office. Handy for photocopying.

Don’t worry Tom, Ryan did turn up… and according to Tim, a quarter of backers for this book came from Bleeding Cool. So it could be our fault…
