The Dandy Dies

In 1937, the same year that Detective Comics was first published in America, so was The Dandy in the UK. Also an anthology, it has short strips, aimed at young children, a mix of comedy and drama. It is one of the longest running comics in the world, published weekly. After a spate of rebranding as a comic/toy giveaway, Dandy Xtreme, it returned to a more classic format with Harry Hill strip branding on the cover in 2010. I really enjoyed that last run.

But at the end of last year, on its 75th birthday, it stopped its print edition and went digital only, as The Digital Dandy.

And now after thirteen digital issues that, it appears, has ceased as well. CArtoonist Wilbur Dawburn confirmed the news….

Sad to say the bold experiment that was the digital Dandy is over. Last week's was the last one.

@realfredthehead Well, the annual is still going (been working on the 2015 one already), but it looks like the end for the weekly comic.

@swirlythingy The editor informed contributors last week. (I did a couple of strips for it, although they didn't get around to using them)

@Digifiend84 @bromley001 Yup. And scrapping the first effort and going right back to a new issue 1 can't have helped either.
