A Comic Show – It's Not Easy Being Green Lantern #21

Aaron Haaland writes;

Hey Fandom! This week is awesome! Last week Jason Aaron was here, this week it's Rob Venditti, and then a HeroesCon weekend! I love comics!

First up is Green Lantern #21, the first issue of Rob Venditti's run. It was good, opening and closing in the middle of a losing battle with Relic. Their rings are almost depleted, the central power battery is dead, and only a few of the old guard are left. Can Hal redeem the corps in the same way he did his own life? Will he become a reluctant leader to this largely rookie corps? What will a GLC that's completely rebuilt Hal's way look like? I'm ready for this. Sure some of this issue was a little house keeping with Carol, Kyle, and launching Larfleeze. However, the Carol stuff was touching and the Kyle/Hal interaction was hilarious. Larfleeze will need a Green Lantern in his book for it to work, I humbly demand G'NORT! All in all, I loved the start of Rob's run! I don't like that the Green Lantern rings I was going to give out free to all this Wednesday at my Venditti signing aren't coming until next week. Stuart Schreck, Administrator of Direct Sales at DC is to blame. He meant to have them sent airwave and instead the rings came over slowboat.

Marvel had a nice crop of books out this week. Superior Spider-man, All New X-Men, Thanos Rising, and Age Of Ultron delivered my Marvel fix. But, it was the creator owned stuff that really got me going this week.

EAST OF WEST is the best new book of the year. There is simply no contest. All shops in the know will have the 3rd print of #1 and the 2nd print of #2 racked next to this week's new #3! We will. If you haven't tried this book, you owe it to yourself. I'm still into Kick-Ass and volume 3 #1 is more of what fans of the book love: really terrible attempts at super heroics. Oh, and I'm still loving Walking Dead too. I try new things, but I'm still into Green Lanterns and zombies!
