 Three Newspapers Ban Doonesbury For A Week. Hundreds Don't.

Gary Trudeau received an advance copy of the The Rogue: Searching for the Real Sarah Palin biography, written by the journalist Joe McGinniss, who moved next door to her in Alaska to write the book.

And he's gone to work. In his daily strip Doonesbury, he has used his journalist character Roland Hedley, currently working for Fox News, to take some of the more inflammatory passages and rephrase them to suit Fox News' agenda.

The book, which paints Sarah Palin as racist, cocaine-using and sexually promiscuous, as these strips allude to,has been causing a number of headlines. But newspapers Newsday, Atlanta Journal-Constitution and Chicago Tribune have pulled the strip, regarding it as the equivalent of reporting the stores without fact checking first. In most markets, it remains in place, in around 1,400 newspapers worldwide. Either way, it sounds wonderfully suited for reprinting example in Bleeding Cool. Under fair use, of course.
