But this week Batman ruled the roost, though Zsarsky and the Dodsons came very close…

Who had this to say…

Star Wars Darth Vader #1 almost overtook Batman #88 for the top spot in this weeks list of bestsellers. The comics relaunching in tandem with the new movie has really boosted sales, despite mixed reviews on Rise of Skywalker overall. X-Men/Fantastic Four probably could've done better if we'd ordered more — We ended up sold out early in the day.

Pretty by the books sales week, with the Caped Crusader on top as usual. A mercifully small number of X-Books brings a nice respite from the usual 4+ title onslaught we see from that line, with the absolutely gorgeous Dodson-illustrated X-MEN FANTASTIC FOUR making its debut.

Not much else to write home about elsewhere. The consistently solid MARTIAN MANHUNTER maxi-series wraps up, and we saw a decent showing from some one-shots this week: IMMORTAL HULK GREAT POWER and DC CRIMES OF PASSION.

This week was dominated again by the big two, holding 9 out of 10 possible best seller places.

Three DC's in the top ten this week versus seven Marvels. Marvel took the top slot with the superb X-Men Fantastic Four #1, with Batman coming in a close second. DC's Green Lantern #1 Facsimile Edition barely missed our top ten, coming in twelfth place, which means that it outsold every DC title except for Batman, Justice League, and Joker Harley Criminal Sanity!

As expected Batman is back on top at FFF for our Weekly Top Ten bestseller list. Darth Vader was a close second. Each of the Dark Lord of the Sith's ongoing titles have been big sellers and his newest series is no exception. A little of the initial sales are definitely speculatively enhanced but Star Wars and Vader have been consistent sellers since the relaunch back in 2015. We'll watch the books sales numbers with great interest. The first official Dawn of X miniseries (looking at you Fallen Angels) X-Men/Fantastic Four started strong at our #3 spot. Some people will buy anything with an X and the others who are only picking up one or two titles weren't scared off by a four issue mini. We'll see where those people are in a month when the titles keep adding up. I really feel like Marvel is shooting themselves in the foot by not cancelling series before they add two more. Hail Hydra I guess. Power Ranger/TMNT and Buffy were our only indie book in the Top Ten hitting #4 and #5 respectively. Most of the sales for PR/TMNT comes from all of the different helmet covers and people who need all of them. Whatever the reason, it works for me! Buffy is a Top Ten staple, so no shock there. The two surprises of the week have to be Thor #2 hitting #8 on it's second week and Justice League selling well enough to hit #7. Both good surprises of course. Robert Venditti is a fantastic writer and Doug Mahnke is a superb artist, but following Scott Snyder is no easy feat. Some people have actually jumped BACK into JL as they felt that Snyder's run had gotten too convoluted. Whatever the reason, I'm glad to see a glimpse of the post Year of the Villain DC world. Refreshing is the word that comes to mind. As for Thor, Donny Cates is a store favorite so it's not shocking to see his books double dip in the Top Ten. I'm just happy people aren't sleeping on what's shaping up to be a Thor run that will dine in Valhalla with the likes of Simonson, Straczynski and Aaron's.
