The Monsters are Alive at Tom Devlin's Monster Museum! [REVIEW]

The horror movie genre is one of the best movie genres, in my opinion. From monsters to the undead, there's really something for everyone. At Tom Devlin's Monster Museum in Boulder City, NV, horror fans can enjoy hand-made, life-sized monsters, as well as screen-used horror icons.

This museum has been on my list of places to visit, and after long last I was finally in Vegas. For $15, you take a self-guided tour through the museum, or visitors can opt for a Midnight at the Museum ($50-$100) private tour with Tom Devlin himself!

Devlin has been working as a special effects makeup artist since 2001. His company 1313FX has provided both monsters and SFX makeup to over 100 horror films. This museum features Devlin's art. Yes — everything in this museum was created by Devlin.

My personal favorite is the life sized Creature from the Black Lagoon. Adorning the walls, guests will also find death masks, original photos, and more. I spent a good long while admiring the work, and taking it all in. The first monster visitors come across is Nosferatu, lurking in the shadows.

He absolutely startled me, and I loved it. The museum also features sets of Michael Myers, a recreation of the famous head spinning scene in The Exorcist, and a bridge taking you to Camp Crystal Lake — where a certain Jason may be waiting for you. Plus, visitors can take as many photos and videos as they want.

Tom Devlin's Monster Museum is open daily (that weekdays and weekends) from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at 1310 Boulder City Parkway.  This is one of the most unique places I've visited, and I can't wait to go back! Any fan of horror or special effects makeup needs to visit this museum. Have you visited Tom Devlin's Monster Museum? Let us know in the comments below!
