Nicholas Cage to Play…Nicholas Cage in New FIlm 'Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent'

Nicholas Cage is set to star in a new film titled The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent. It may in fact be the most difficult role he has ever played: himself. The meta-film would see Cage playing Nicholas Cage, down on his luck, taking a offer of $1 million to appear at a Mexican billionaires birthday party. When things get hairy, Cage slips in and out of some of his previous characters to get out of the situation. The film is written by Tom Gormican and Kevin Etten, and would be directed by Gormican. The pair previously worked together in the short-run series Ghosted for Fox.

This all sounds amazing. It is like the Nicholas Cage version of Being John Malkovich, only probably with more explosions and freak outs. I have massively enjoyed the career…resurgence? Cage has been enjoying as of late. Mandy was a fever dream delight, and this would just be the cherry on top. The only question is: which Cage characters need to be involved?

Obviously Cameron Poe from Con Air. That is a given. I would think Stanley Goodspeed from The Rock. Red Miller from Mandy will come out for sure, as will H.I. McDunnough from Raising Arizona. Castor Troy from Face/Off can stay away, ditto for Memphis Raines from Gone in 60 Seconds. My last two votes would go to Johnny Blaze from Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance (not the first one) and Benjamin Gates from the National Treasure series. Blaze so in a bind he can pee fire on everyone, and Gates because he can steal an impotant map or something to get him out of Mexico with an elaborate plot. Can we also take a second to appreciate some of those dandy Nicholas Cage character names?

The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent has no set release date quite yet, but we will let you know when it does for sure.
