Online Store, Comic Toolbox, Moves Into Orbital to Sell New Comics

Looks like someone blinked. Just before the Thought Bubble opening party kicks off two hundred miles north of London, Bleeding Cool gets the word that a new comic book store will be opening out of an existing one.

Earlier this week, Bleeding Cool broke the news that Orbital Comics of London had announced it would no longer sell new comic books and had dropped their Diamond account. As of this Wednesday, neighbouring stores Gosh Comics and Forbidden Planet were flooded with comic book readers who found that Orbital Comics had changed its business model.

But not so fast. Even as the Orbital Comics owner teases something new for a palindromic date in February, something else has shifted in the fabric of reality.

On-line UK comic book store and management system Comic Toolbox is making the move from clicks to bricks, and have announced that they will be operating out of Orbital Comics in London to continue the provision of standing order comics to their customers.

Orbital Comics customers will be able to collect their comics weekly as usual. Additionally, if they want, they will be able to log on to the Comic Toolbox standing order system and see what's coming out in the following months to reserve specific issues, subscribe to crossovers and follow their favourite creators.

Comic Toolbox has been running a successful online subscription service, Get My Comics, for the last five years in the UK to cater for comic collectors that have no local shops. The company has been recently rolling out a management system for existing shops to assist accurate ordering, increase sales and visibility of titles and to provide much-needed management information. They say they look forward to keeping Orbital customers supplied with their titles, and up to date on new releases.

Man, we are living in interesting times, aren't we?
