Does A New Digital Cover & 5 Free Digital Comics Make You Want To Spend $575 On A Transformer?

HASLAB, the Hasbro Pulse crowdsourcing platform, has been trying to gain backers for over a month to get enough funding to implement the first ever Transformers HASLAB project: Transformers War For Cybertron Unicron. Unicron has been released before in several different versions but never one as large as this. This version of Unicron will be over 27-inches tall, over 50 points of articulation, be able to transform into planet mode, and lots of other little additions.

However, the project has run into some snags, not reaching the 8000 backers desired by the first deadline, leading to an extended deadline of October 6th now, only a little over 4 days from now. Now to sweeten the deal Hasbro will give an "EXCLUSIVE digital comic bundle, made in partnership with @IDWPublishing and available only through @comiXology" of five comics. The bundle will include the 4 issues of the second comic adaptation of Transformers: The Movie, Transformers The Animated Movie, done by Bob Budiansky, Don Figueroa, and Josh Burcham, and the recent #1 of The Transformers IDW relaunch by Brain Ruckley, Angel Hernandez, Cachet Whitman, and Joana Lafuente. The exclusive part of this bundle is the inclusion of a new comic cover (shown below) done by Andrew Griffith based off Marvel's The Transformers #1 cover from 1984 by Bill Sienkiewicz.

The comic adaptation of Transformers: The Movie by IDW from 2006 is advertised as "unavailable" for those who would receive it as part of getting Unicron. The comics are not the hardest to find in physical copies ranging from cover price to $10 in completed eBay sales, though the trade edition is long out of print and a bit more expensive or only $6, depending on where you look. The new #1 for IDW's The Transformers is cover price or cheaper for physical or digital copies. The exclusive cover is very nice, but is a digital only extra.

This addition is very unlikely to make anyone unswayed already to now suddenly decide to back the Unicron project for $575, which will not ship until 2021, but is a nice extra for those who do want a great looking Transformer. Though it is possible seeing the artwork below may sway someone to decide they now have to have Unicron … maybe?
