Monday was launch day for World of Warcraft: Classic and the MMORPG set a new record for the highest launch-day concurrent viewership on Twitch, with livestreams of World of Warcraft reaching a peak concurrent viewership of more than 1.1 million unique viewers. This is a record launch day, but not an overall concurrent viewer record, as that is currently held by Fortnite at 1.5 million viewers.
Some additional stats for World of Warcraft: Classic’s Twitch stats on launch day include:
● Peak concurrent WoW viewers: 1,165,793 at August 26 at 3:05pm PDT● 6.1 million unique viewers within the first 24 hours of WoW Classic’s launch● Strength, Agility, Intellect, Stamina, and Spirit
World of Warcraft: Classic is Blizzard Entertainment’s authentic recreation of the original game before its seven massive post-launch expansions. Which means its WoW circa 2006. With all the problems and quirks you’d expect.
The game invites players to return to an era of wonder and danger as they experience adventures previously lost to time. World of Warcraft Classic launched globally on August 27 (August 26 at 3pm PDT in North America), and comes included with every World of Warcraft subscription. The game will update with rolling patches just like the original, however it will do so on a quicker cycle.
