Gossip: No One Mention the Inhumans, Ms Marvel

Do you remember when everything was Inhuman? As Marvel Comics tried to persuade their readers to give up on the -Men and favour Inhumans instead. Bleeding Cool broke the news that Marvel intended a new Inhumans push in an attempt to create a new Game Of Thrones-style franchise at the publisher and lead into a film and/or TV show. But this push from the comics side was not welcomed when Kevin Feige took over the film studio side of Marvel, cancelling the planned movie, so that the TV side of Marvel took on Inhumans, hyped it further through the comics, even as they were downplaying the mutants as a result of conflict with Foz Studios, and after establishing Inhumans with the Agents Of SHIELD TV show, launching an Inhumans TV show with a cinematic first episode debut.

Only for it all to flop. Inhumans TV show to be cancelled, the Inhumans comics to be cancelled and while everything fro the Framework to Ghost Rider was mentioned in the recent Agents Of Shield season, there was no mention on Inhumans anymore.

Because now any mention of Inhumans is to be considered toxic.

Not only are there no Inhumans books, but there are very little Inhumans appearances. Lockjaw in Guardians Of The Galaxy and an occasional Royal Family appearance may be all you get. Even Ms Marvel, the only remaining Inhumans-lead book has not had Kamala Khan acknowledge or mentioning her Inhuman heritage, let alone the Terrigen Mists that transformed her, since the Magnificent Ms Marvel relaunch with a new writer. And with the new Disney + TV show, don’t look for that origin to be mentioned in the cartoon either.

And while they may not be revamping her origin to lose the Inhuman – and there have been plenty of discussions about that – it seems that not mentioning the Inhumans any more is preferable.

And although not turned into human, prominent movie mutants Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver were turned into non-mutants again, experimental subjects of the High Evolutionary as a result of all the internal Marvel politics. I understand that current management are planning to emphasise  Scarlet Witch, Quicksilver and Magneto’s family ties in 2020 – but plans may be on hold as a result of the WandaVision TV show on Disney+ so as not to confuse people further.
